John Mehrzad assists Premiership rugby player to reduce RFU sanction

John Mehrzad represented Nick Fenton-Wells of Bristol Rugby in an RFU disciplinary hearing to consider sanction in response to an admitted charge of making contact with the eye or eye area contrary to law 10.4(m). Despite the Low End entry point in the RFU regulations being 12-weeks, the RFU disciplinary panel agreed to reduce the sanction to 4-weeks only, taking into account several factors including faults in the RFU citing procedure and delays incurred since the incident took place when he was at his former club, Bedford Blues, on 16 April 2016. Mr Fenton-Wells will be now be available for selection by Bristol after 2-weeks only of the new Aviva Premiership season.
