The Ritz Hotel Casino Ltd v Nora Al-Daher
Clive Freedman QC, instructed by Sarah Rees of Blake Morgan, has appeared in the High Court in London for the Ritz Hotel Casino in this much publicised claim. The case concerns a claim on dishonoured cheques for a balance of £1 million arising out of gambling at the casino. Mrs Al Daher says that she is not obliged to pay because of a defence under the Gambling Act 2005 and because of a breach of duty of care relating to her gambling. The Ritz says that the statute was complied with fully and that the claim in negligence is not made out. HH Judge Seys Llewellyn QC has reserved his judgment.
