Ashley Cukier interviewed by BBC re: Premier League charges against Manchester City FC

08.02.23

Ashley Cukier was this week interviewed by BBC News about the charges brought by the Premier League (“EPL”) against Manchester City FC, relating to various alleged breaches of the EPL’s financial fair play rules. His interview featured on the BBC News at 10, BBC Breakfast, and in the leading article on the BBC website, which can be read here.

Ashley is recommended by the legal directories as one of the leading Sports Law juniors at the Bar, and was recently described by Legal 500 as “great with clients, excellent on strategy, and a pleasure to work with”. He is particularly sought after for his football work – both domestic and international – involving clubs, agents, players and managers. In recent months he has secured, as sole counsel, two separate victories before the FIFA Football Tribunal and was sole counsel for one of the defendants in a multi-million-pound football agency arbitration, containing Portuguese and English elements, which generated a highly favourable settlement shortly before trial. He is also currently junior counsel to the Independent Investigation into Yorkshire Cricket Club, commissioned in the wake of the Azeem Rafiq scandal. Ashley is a member of the Sport Resolutions panel of Arbitrators and Mediators and welcomes instructions across the full spectrum of sports law.
