Littleton’s Commercial Director, Nigel McEwen, delivered a presentation on“The Post-Jackson World: Creativity and innovation in fee structures” at the recent Littleton Seminar held last month. The Seminar and presentation were very well-received and this paper is a summary of Nigel’s talk which examines fee structures, why change is inevitable and how both sides of the profession might go about adopting certain new charging structures.

Nigel is well-placed to understand the impact of the Jackson reforms for solicitors and barristers having had a long legal career as a solicitor in the City. Prior to joining Littleton, Nigel was a partner specialising in commercial litigation at Tarlo Lyons before becoming Managing Partner of the firm, a position which he held for over 10 years.

Nigel has been the Commercial Director at Littleton since 2010 where he is responsible for leading the strategic direction and business development of Chambers.
